OverviewThis qualification is part of the Health Training Package. It is designed for Health Support workers who provide support for the effective and efficient functioning of Health Services, utilising discretion and judgement. Health Support workers conduct their day to day job role functions under Supervision.
ParticipantsThis training is suitable for persons working in or previously worked in the Health Support Services, in areas such as Cleaning (eg; Senior Cleaners), Laundry (eg; Senior Laundry Hands), Food Services (eg; Food Supervisors), Ground Maintenance and General Maintenance (eg; Maintenance Supervisors), and Work Relationships.
Course Outline Nominal hours 270 upwards. 4 Core Units and 11 Selected Elective Units
Core competencies :
- Communicate and work effectively in Health,
- Comply with infection control policies and procedures in Health work,
- Participate in OHS processes,
- Contribute to effective workplace relationships.
Elective competencies cover a wide area, selected from : Cleaning, Laundry, Food Services, Grounds maintenance, General maintenance, Work relationships.
Pre-requisites Must be working in a Health Care Environment. Have relevant employment experience.
Must be able to demonstrate Literacy and Numeracy Skills required at the level of expectation for the relevant industry.
Accreditation and Articulation On successful completion of this course a Certificate III in Health Support Services will be awarded. Articulation to higher qualifications in Health Services is possible.
Traineeships available Certificate III in Health Support Services is available as a Traineeship over 24 months to eligible persons. Available for New Entrants and Existing Workers.
